A Great Man Gone to Soon….

 April 14, 2015

It is with a heavy heart that the members of The Red Hill Fire Company announce The passing of our Fire Police Lieutenant Gary Horning. As you may have known Gary has been battling Leukemia since last October. In January the Members of the RHFC hosted The Be The Match Bone Marrow Drive in our Banquet Hall where almost three hundred people showed up to lend their support and be tested to see if they are a match. By the beginning of February it was announced that a 9 out of 10 match was found. By the end of February Gary was on his way to receive his Bone Marrow Transplant.  Gary was a fighter and was battling his illness like a champ! He was on the road to recovery!  We all new Gary as a fighter! On Monday it was announced that Gary's battle was over.  Monday morning Gary went into Cardiac Arrest and suffered "Broken Heart Syndrome". which is extreme stress on the heart. The members , firefighters and Officers wish to offer the Horning Family our most sincere condolences on their loss of a great man.  Gary will me missed, and admired by many people for his heroic battle that he fought with such strength.

The services for the celebration of Gary's Life will be held this Friday April 17th at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home 222 Washington Street East Greenville PA. Calling hours will be from 11:00an to 1:00pm. with services to follow. A procession in Gary's honor will be held following the services back to The Red Hill Fire Company  Banquet Hall at 82 East 5th Street Red Hill PA where Refreshments will be offered.

A Final Salute procession will be held stating at 6:00pm at The Upper Perkiomen High School parking Lot where the Chief has asked for every available Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, Fire Police Unit, Special Service, Ambulance and so on be present and lined up and ready to go by 6:00 pm. we thank you again for your support of the Horning Family and The Red Hill Fire Company during this difficult and tragic time....

Thank You!!!
